Lovin' some L.A.M.B.

Finally! Now that NY Fashion Week has wrapped, I can finally oogle over the entire photo collection of Gwen's Spring 2011 line. I initially got turned on to L.A.M.B years ago solely because of Gwen Stefani (saying that i'm obsessed would not be an understatement). Her line first started out with cool and comfy tees and sweats, but has grown into a fabulous, fashion-forward line that I drool over every season. And the thing I love most about is that all of looks like it came directly out of Gwen's closet. She designs things that she would wear, which makes me want to wear them! This season her collection was all about prints (mainly tribal and plaid) and menswear. My favorite pieces included the short dresses in the ikat print. If only I could afford to buy this stuff! A girl can dream though, right?

Walking on Air

There is nothing I love more than a fancy pair of heels. The problem is, I have the hardest time walking in them. I have a tendency to buy them, set them on a shelf and stare at them. Most of these beauties are still in perfect condition. Think of the money I wasted! Well it's about time I start making more thoughtful purchases--flats. I love flats, but have never found any that are as comfy as a pair of tennies, until these! Maria Sharpova is no stranger to tennis shoes, so it's no surprise her line with Cole Haan is constructed with comfort in mind. These flats have Nike Air Technology; they're perfect! Stunning and comfortable. AND affordable. No more sacrificing comfort for style. Thanks Maria!

DIY

Nothing can transform an outfit more than a bold accessory. My personal favorite is heavy necklace, whether it be a string of beads or gems, or a fantastic bib. Anthropologie alway has the most creative accessories, but I realized a lot of their jewelry-trends are totally do it yourself! Head to the fabric store and find some great prints or velvet, cut into strips and string them through a chain. Or cut apart old strands of beads and mix and match Another cool idea is to clip a brooch on to a necklace. These ideas can give you an endless, eclectic jewelry assembly without spending a ton of money! The more you save, the more pieces you can add to your collection!

Vintage Chic

Awww, shoes! Nothing is more satisfying than a new pair of shoes. Even better, a new pair that looks old...vintage even. Shoes from the 40's, 50's and 60's are incredibly popular now, especially with the Mad Men-phenomenon taking everyone by storm. Seychelles has been around for a while, but I hadn't really heard about them until I noticed them on ModCloth and Anthropologie. The mary jane is always in, and in this color they are particularly precious! Now, all you need is a hoop skirt and a cocktail.

Pattern-on-Pattern

Most people would think that mixing prints equals getting dressed in the dark or without a mirror. I beg to to differ! There are times when it can scream, "look at me!" but if done the right way, you won't look like a fashion bullseye. Mixing patterns is all about staying within the same color palette and keeping your prints roughly the same size. My favorite pattern-on-pattern look is a simple nautical-inspired stripe with a floral. Just try it and you'll see; it isn't that terrifying!

Beauty Rave!

So everyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with beauty products. I am always buying the newest latest brands of everything! Once and a while I come across something that I really love and I would recommend to my friends. Right now, that product for me is Sally Hansen Insta Dry Fast Drying nail polish. It has a nice flat brush and dries quickly! Also, a couple coats will last you two weeks without chipping and it comes in a variety of fabulous colors. My current favorites are Jumpin' Jade and Instant Iris.

Thanks to BeautyUnmade for your photo.

I Heart Marc

Today is a good day! I opened my inbox and got an email from Piperlime. 25% OFF SITEWIDE! ANYTHING! This makes me really excited. I can finally buy a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag I have been eyeing for months. The Classic Q Baby Groovee. It's really as fabulous as it sounds. A black leather satchel, with Marc's traditional dogtag hanging off the side. I love the versatility of a satchel; I can carry on my shoulder with the long strap, or hold in my hand with the smaller handles. It even has protective feet on the bottom in case I (gasp!) ever have to set it down. The only bad thing about this day is that I have to wait 5-9 days to get it! Hey, at least I got free shipping.

Prints! Prints!

So Target is my number one favorite store. Not only is it fabulous (just because), its GO International designer lines are to die for! The latest from Target, is the Tucker for Target line. Gaby Basora is known for using loud and outrageous patterns for her regular line, and Target's lower-priced line did not disappoint! I came home with two items today; a gorgeous navy and gold pencil skirt and an ivory and orange polka dot top. I'm still in love with a few more items, but I think i'm going to have to wait until my next paycheck. I haven't decided where i'm going to wear these yet, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that they are in my closet!

Newbie to the Blog World

Now I can finally  stop writing down all my latest fashion cravings in my ratty notebook and display them here for all your eager eyes see! Okay--Maybe i'm being a little too optimistic. Is there really anybody out there that wants to see what i'm into now? Even if there isn't, this is the perfect spot to get all my ideas out. This blog will be an entire compilation of what the gears in my head are turning out. Have fun and enjoy this crazy ride!
