Etsy Pick: brownbagvintage

Another great vintage site! I was referred this this etsy shop by a blog that I follow. A lot of the prices are fairly reasonable and the merchandise is in very good condition. The seller is out of Brooklyn, NY so i'm sure they have access to fabulous stuff! I love all the scarfs/headscarfs sold. Not only will they look great around your neck, but they also look great in your hair for a stylish rockabilly, Gwen Stefani-look. Or, tie it on a bag for a new look for an old handbag. I'm especially fond of this black mini skirt too.

Fossil Finds

I found another great site for vintage finds--Fossil.com. I used to only know about Fossil watches and the occasional handbag but upon browsing their site there is so much more to offer. I love their clothes, except for it being a little pricey. I've ordered some items on sale and was very impressed with them. They even added shoes now which are gorgeous, especially the flats. But the best items added are the random vintage finds. I'm deciding if I really need this Jessica McClintock dress for the holidays? Hmm...

American Music Awards 2010's Best Look

With the AMA's being last night, I thought I should give a little recap of my favorite red carpet looks. I feel the best look of the evening belongs to Rihanna with her jawdropping scarlet Elie Saab. Stunning!

Lumberjackin' It Up

What do you think of when you see buffalo plaid? Hunters? Lumberjacks? The Brawny man in particular? Yes, I do think of these things but I also think of how fashionable it can be! Buffalo plaid was very popular a year or so ago..and it kind of fell by the wayside. I desided to resurrect this trend mainly because I found a great shirt at a thrift store for a quarter. It's not the trendy, printed fabric, it's the real thing! The fabric is woven with black thread and has held up very well. I belted it and it looks great! It's comfy and warm--my favorite combination. And it fits right in here in South Dakota. I won't be carrying around a enormous axe, but i'm sure this shirt will get me enough attention anyway!

The Vicente Agor Silhouette

I first saw these pendants mentioned in Marie Claire but misplaced the issue and thus forgot about them. Again, they resurfaced on Gwyneth Paltrow's website, goop.com. What a terrific gift idea! There is no better gift than something personal (or something you hand-make yourself). These silhouette pendants can be used on necklaces or transformed into earrings. Send in a profile shot of your gift recipient and have that silhouette immortalized into 18k gold or sterling silver. You can even get fancy with it and add a diamond. They are a little pricey but it's a gift that will no doubtedly keep giving!

First Lady Fashion

Cuban-American designer Isabel Toledo gained popularity after dressing first lady, Michelle Obama. Michelle has been seen in many of her looks throughout the last year, the most famous (and first) being a yellow ensemble she wore on Inauguration Day. Now, Toledo has switched gears. She has started designing shoes and handbags for Payless. Yes, Payless! There aren't many styles to choose from, but they are all nicely done and look luxe! I'm loving this pair, sleek with a pop of red that will excentuate any outfit. There's something about being able to own an item from one of Michelle's favorite designers that makes me feel incredibly fancy! Check these puppies out! *Gasp*

Vintage Frocks of Fancy has a lot of great clothing from the 40's-80's, with a majority being in the 40's, 50's, and 60's--my favorites! Lanvin for H&M

So the unveiling for the new Lanvin for H&M happened on the 2nd and from the photos I saw it is fierce! I have been eagerly awaiting a look at Alber Elbaz's mass-market designs, including dresses, separates, shoes and accessories, like handbags and jewelry. Ever since the collaboration was announced in September, it's been the talk of the town on the fashion front. I had been searching far and wide for any sneak peak. But now it's out and I can drool over the entire collection; I was NOT disappointed at all. The one disappointment--we have NO H&M close and you cannot buy online at the American H&M site. So that means..no Lanvin for me. Boo. It seems pretty exclusive; I even read that Madonnna wanted to buy some pieces before the November 20 in-store date and she was told no. Who tells Madonna no? Well, I guess I'll have to resort to buying it on Ebay for 3x the original price. It's times like these when I wish I lived in a bigger city! Ahhh..Lanvin!

Harry Potter Who?

Emma Watson is best known for her role at Hermione in the Harry Potter series. I never got into it, but it definitely made her a star and one of the best known young actresses of our generation. Now that the saga is over, she had the opportunity for a drastic change: a pixie! I had seen older photos of this transformation, but in this month’s Marie Claire confirms that this choice was the right one! It makes me want to get a pixie cut even more than before (not to mention recreating her doe-eyed look on myself). Loves!

The Midas Touch

Gold. I went through a love/hate journey with gold my entire life. If you were to buy me anything gold growing up, I would have gagged. "Gold, really? How tacky!" Wow--was I mistaken or what?! Currently, i'm obsessed with gold. OBSESSED. And this time of year gold is a popular choice in more than just jewelry. Gold and forest green, Gold and mulberry, Gold and charcoal gray. Love all these combinations. Gold is in style and here to stay. 'Tis the season, why not fancy-it-up?

Diggin’ the Scots

Fair Isle prints are everywhere this winter. D&G, Rag and Bone, and Max Mara all showed them on the runways…not to mention every magazine and site imaginable is featuring them. So why shouldn’t I jump on this highly fashionable, highly cozy bandwagon? Fair Isle sweaters are traditionally knit and get their name from a tiny island north of Scotland where they first developed this technique. They seem to be most popular at ski resorts and in woodsy small town, but not anymore! I got a fabulous one retailing at $120 at A&F in February (but I got it at $15 because apparently they were having trouble getting people to buy them). I guess I’ll just consider myself to be ahead of the trends (at least for this anyway). Snuggle up with some cocoa and let these toasty cable knit threads warm you up!

Etsy Pick: joelmasouza

This shop includes a variety of items; purses, jewelry, and these cute little spats. These are my favorite items in Joelma's shop. I love that they are in a variety of fabrics and can transform the most basic shoe. Spats were most popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and were made to cover the instep and the ankle. Icon Michael Jackson was a huge fan! These are a little more feminine and lady-like and I can't wait to order a pair! The ability to get a hundred looks with only 1 pair of shoes. Fierce!

A Peek Inside My Wardrobe..

Hi everyone! Well my last post was Tuesday--yeah, last week. To say i've been slacking would be an understatement. I decided to make up for lost time by starting a "Peek Inside My Wardrobe" post. I'm going to start taking picture of my own clothes, but also keep adding pictures of stuff that I drool over (but can't always afford, ha ha). This is a little number I wore for a gala held by Alpha Phi, my sister's sorority. Hope you like it! xoxo

Lady in Red

Old Navy always seems to have the cutest coats with the cheapest price tags. Every year, I fall in love with more than one but they always seem to sell out before I can get my hands on them. This year, it’s all about this gorgeous red wool ruffled coat. It’s the perfect length and the ruffled detailing adds a little unexpected extra. How cute! I guess I’m not the only lover of this jacket—Kristen Cavallari and AnnaLynne McCord have both been spotted in it! And it’s on sale right now for $60.00 (regularly at $89.50). A steal if you ask me!

Etsy Pick: Unearthed

I read about this shop in my November issue of InStyle, the Best of the Web section. They didn't have any pictures, only a little description about the shop. Something that caught my eye was their description of a 'one of a kind' stingray cuff. "What is that?" I thought. Upon seeing it on Etsy, I fell in love but was a little apprehensive. Upon exploring it further, I found out that the skin is a by-product of fishing industry. Stringray is a popular dish so everything used in this line would be used be thrown as waste. No rare or endangered species were used either. After reading that, I could rest assure. I sure do love fashion, but my passion for marine life definitely outweighs it! Here is the gorgeous cuff that i'm gushing over!

New Site Alert!

I came across this website when searching for discounted Burberry items. I should have known better than to try to find sale Burberry, but little did I know...a site does exist! Covetshop.com is a site for (barely) used designer items at discounted prices. You can even try your own hand at selling and use the Consign Online feature. How cool is that? Plus, all of the items are guaranteed authentic so no more worrying about if your new LV bag is a fake or not. Do you hear that? It's me...squealing with delight! This site rocks. Your most covetted items with a better price tag. I think I've died and gone to heaven!
